Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x64) – 14.0.23026 Setup Failed 0x80070666

My computer won’t let me install VC 2015. It says a different version is already installed but I’ve checked and VC 2015 is not in my list of installations, so I can’t even uninstall it to be able to reinstall it. The only versions I’ve got on my system are VC 2017, VC 2013, VC 2012 and earlier versions. I need VC 2015 because it contains msvcp140.dll which I need to be able to play a game I’ve just bought. When I try to start the game I get an error message saying this file is missing and the game doesn’t start. Does anyone know how to install VC 2015 if it’s already claiming to be installed even though it isn’t? Thanks.

Moved from  Windows / Windows 10 / Windows settings

I uninstalled x86 and x64 of VC 2017 so that it allowed me to install x86 and x64 of VC 2015 and the problem is now gone.

  1. That is interesting! I’ve been browsing for a post such
    as this for quite a very long moment.

  2. Yesterday, while I was at work, my cousin stole
    my iPad and tested to see if it can survive a
    thirty foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now destroyed and she has 83 views.

    I know this is completely off topic but I had to share it with someone!
